Dear Consultant,

The affiliate program has been a great feature for the last 7-8 years. Because the software used to implement the affiliate program will no longer available to us, we are only able to support this feature through the end of 2012. As a result, we are no longer taking new sign-ups for this program. However ... we are working on another program to help you sell and support your clients online. More details are expected to be available on the new program sometime late January or early February.

Meanwhile, I have some general advice if you are looking to sell online. Please see the info futher down on this page where I have tried to help you with ideas to get started easily. Believe me ... there are endless ways to burn up time trying to setup a website or an online store. So, the advice below may help you avoid wasting time and money as you work on your website/ web store.

Don't have a website? We recommend Bluehost.com. They offer inexpensive, full featured web hosting with 24/7 support. It is a good value and they are easy to work with. You can also register your website name (domain name) with them. Click in the image below to view their services:

One of the main features that we like about Bluehost is that they make it easy to setup Wordpress on your website. Wordpress is an easy way to setup your own website that is easy to add your own content (do-it-yourself approach). See our comments below about Wordpress.

We also like Hostgator. They offer good value and support.

You may be familiar with Godaddy. They are good for registering domain names. Their hosting is just ok, and their menus tend to be confusing. I have used them for many things, but now I just use them for keeping up with many domain names, not hosting.

Consider Blogger as an alternative to a regular website:

We recommend using Blogger. Blogger is Google's free service that allows you to have a blog online. It is very easy to use and won't cost you anything to try. Go to Blogger's site at www.blogger.com to learn more.

Consider a website using Wordpress

We also recommend Wordpress as a blog site platform. It is not as easy to use as blogger, but it has more capability. You can either get a free Wordpress site by going to Wordpress.com's site at www.wordpress.com or you can get their code to install on your own website by downloading it at Wordpress.org.

Consider a custom Wordpress template to dress up your website

There are lots of templates out there to choose from to make your website look the way you want it to.

Consider eBay for selling online:

If you just want to offer a limited number of items for sale (say 1 - 20 or so), then consider putting PayPal buy buttons on your website.

Consider a hosted platform such as Shopify for selling online:

A hosted platform for an online store and be a pretty easy way to get started selling online. We recommend Shopify, because they are easy to use. It's not the cheapest way to go, but their system may save you a lot of time compared with other online platforms - mainly because they keep things pretty simple.
